Enhanced Online Payments
New this year is the opportunity for all parents to view account balances, view the account history and receive e-mail alerts for low balances. This can all be done for free and without any cost to the parent. Simply create an account for your child and begin utilizing these features. If you want to add money to the student's account there will be a $2.00 fee per transaction. Parents can add payments directly to the student's school meal account using Visa or MasterCard. Payments will be posted on a secure website and will be received in the school cafeteria's computer system within minutes. Sign-up is quick, easy and secure. Students will be assured that meals will continue uninterrupted. Parents can access the website at www.EZSchoolPay.com.
Online Payment
For instructions on creating an account, refer to the EZSchoolPay Parent User Manual. It may be necessary for you to re-add your student if they make a change from one school to another with in our district. If your student has changed school location; you may notice they have disappeared from your account or they are “grayed-out”. If this is the case, it will be necessary for you to re-add your student to your account by entering the student ID number and choosing the current school they are attending.
Pricing
We are maintaining our pricing for the 2010-2011 school year. Our department is self-funded. We operate much like a private business. We pay all salaries, benefits, food, supplies, health insurance, maintenance, etc. from our food service fund. We do not use any State funds to operate. We do receive about 35% of our funding from the Federal budget. The remaining 65% comes from our student and adult customers. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call our office at 623.445.5163.
Menu
Breakfast and lunch are available in all elementary, middle and high schools. All schools offer an a la carte program to supplement the menu offerings. All K-8 schools provide a colorful fruit and vegetable bar to supplement the menu offerings. All of our schools offer at least 3 entree choices each day. Our high schools offer a variety of choices including a Mexican food option, a deli option and a pizza/pasta option. In addition, our high schools offer a la carte selections including site made salads, site made deli sandwiches and wraps.
Nutrition
Our student customers' desires are sometimes different than their parents' desires. We try to balance the needs of all of our customers and their parents. At our elementary schools, all entrees are baked, not fried. At the high schools that still use fryers, we use canola oil. Our a la carte program meets the Arizona Nutrition Standards, emphasizing more nutritious snack selections. We also provide meals for special dietary needs. Any and all questions concerning our menu or our nutrition policies can be directed to our Registered Dietician at 623-445-5165.
Special Diets
Our department can provide assistance to parents and students when a special diet is needed for medical purposes. We have a Registered Dietician on staff that can help with PKU, Celiac disease, EE, and diabetes.
Please call 623-445-5165 for information.
Meal
Assistance Program
All students have an opportunity to apply for meal assistance. Applications are available for pick-up and delivery at each school. They can also be sent or hand delivered to 21421 N. 21st Ave. Bldg. 2 Phoenix, AZ. 85027. You can submit an application at any time during the school year. Students who participated in the meal assistance program last school year are eligible for the first 30 days of school for this school year. Re-applications are due on September 27, 2010. You must re-apply prior to this date to continue to receive benefits if you re-qualify.
Students who qualify are able to eat at any station in our schools and obtain any “combo meal”. However, students receiving benefits do not qualify for the a la carte items. They must establish an account to purchase a la carte items. Only one application is required per family. Notice will be given within 10 working days of submitting application to the schools. Any questions concerning our Meal-Assistance program please call 623.445.5166.
